This property consists of 344.24 acres of farmland and is owned by naturalist and artist, Murrell Butler. It contains 40 acres of land used for cattle grazing.
The rest of the area is comprised of forest that is nestled around Bayou Sara.
Three quarters of a mile of Murrell Butler’s property is along Bayou Sara and its protection is important for improving water quality and serving as a stream buffer.
This buffer also serves as habitat protection and protection of Louisiana’s agricultural heritage. Land Trust for Louisiana protects the stream and water quality through a conservation easement.
