Mariner’s Cove is a 30.74-acre property that was protected to mitigate the impact of nearby development. It is located north of Lake Maurepas in Livingston parish, near St. Amant.
The property is Cypress-Tupelo Swamp, with some Bottomland Hardwood Forest connected to a larger patch of similar habitat.
Both of these habitat-types are threatened by development and other human activities along coasts and riparian areas in Louisiana. A chorus of wildlife heard from within sing testament to the importance of protecting this land, which is considered habitat for bald eagles and white egrets.
