Annual Dinner and Meeting 2017
Not only was our Annual Dinner and Meeting educational, but it was also entertaining. Everyone enjoyed a night of networking and fellowship. The delicious food was catered by the Southern Yacht Club and their amazing staff. The venue was beautifully decorated with gorgeous trees and twinkling lights perfect for the holidays. The view was breathtaking!
Ray Herndon, Jr., Director of the Conservation Fund, Central Gulf & Lower Mississippi River Region, Conservation Acquisition, was our keynote speaker and he shared exciting information about our newest projects in Vermillion Parish.
Our new Executive Director, Cindy Brown, was introduced and the Board of Directors voted to accept the nomination of Dana Boutwell as our newest Board Member. A huge welcome to both of these fabulous and talented ladies.
Annual Paddle For Preservation – 2017
Unfortunately, the Paddle for Preservation event that was scheduled for October 22nd had to be cancelled due to thunderstorms. But get those kayaks, canoes and paddle boards ready because this fun-filled event will be rescheduled in the Spring of 2018!!!
Treat yourself to a day of relaxation, plus help save a bit of Louisiana, as we float and paddle on the beautiful Tangipahoa River on the Northshore! Land Trust for Louisiana and Canoe and Trail Adventures will once again co-host this exciting canoe, kayak and paddle board adventure! Float and paddle while feeling good knowing you are helping preserve natural lands and waterways of Louisiana!
The paddle follows a meandering course, white sand bars, heavily forested banks and modest currents! There will be speakers to provide information and answer questions about the habitat and fauna we will see as we float along the river, as well as, information about the Land Trust for Louisiana and our mission.
We loved seeing so many new faces, as well as some very familiar ones, at the event this year. Everyone had a wonderful time! The Silent and Live Auctions included such a wide variety of items and the food and music were spectacular. The Land Trust for Louisiana would like to give a very special thank-you to David Fennelly for hosting the event at his Summergrove Farm in Folsom and to the Polo players that kept everyone entertained. We would also like to thank the numerous volunteers; we could not have done it without you!
We hope to see you all again at the next JAMCC event!
Justin Addison Memorial Conservation Cup 2017
Land Trust for Louisiana and Canoe & Trail Adventures co-hosted our Annual “Paddling for Preservation” Canoe/Kayak/Paddle Board trip in October. It was a day of relaxation and learning while helping to save a bit of Louisiana. We floated down the marvelous Bogue Falaya River on the Northshore! It was a beautiful day and a wonderful turnout! THANK YOU to everyone that made this amazing day possible!
