Cindy is a New Orleans native and has been in the conservation and environmental fields for 25 years having worked for 18 years with The Nature Conservancy in Louisiana and across the Gulf Coast. She was also Louisiana State Director at The Trust for Public Land, and an environmental planner at South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and at New York Department of Environmental Conservation. Most recently, she worked as a private consultant in her own firm, Third Coast Conservation. Areas of expertise include program development, project management, public engagement, and fundraising in the areas of ecological restoration, land protection, and conservation programs and policy. She earned her graduate degree at Duke University in environmental management and her bachelor’s degree at the University of New Orleans.
Prior to her current position with Land Trust for Louisiana (LTL), Karen worked for a variety of non-profit organizations including the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Louisiana. As their Program Director she coordinated the program as well as trained and managed volunteers all over the state. Karen grew up in Pennsylvania where her father’s love for nature inspired her. Married to a native of Southeast Louisiana, she has been living in Louisiana for 40 years and enjoys the area because of it’s unique beauty, greenery and culture. Karen has been with LTL for four years. She says, “I want to make a difference! Be part of something bigger than me.”
